Belgrove House

Belgrove House forms a major part of the expansion of the King’s Cross Knowledge Quarter. 

The design brief focused on physical and visual connections to plants throughout the building.  Leading the project across all RIBA work stages, BHS LA developed an innovative planting strategy for the upper levels of the building. 

This unheated winter garden, wrapped around the upper four stories of the building, supports semi-hardy climbing plants. This biophilic climate buffer contributes to reducing operational energy consumption.

Securing planning consent in 2020, the development delivers widespread public realm and street improvements. 

The street-level intervention features a new, highly accessible entrance on Euston Road to King’s Cross Underground station. Traffic-calmed corridors link the station to its southern neighbourhoods via dedicated cycle lanes, with enlarged pedestrian zones, rain gardens and tree planting. 

A prominent new public space establishes the building’s relationship with the mature plane treetops and green space of Argyle Square to south.
